The Storytelling: Superheroes to the Rescue Going Home Discovery Bag contains 2 storybooks and related wooden small world resources including a set of superheroes and a set of wooden rainbow coloured blocks. Children will enjoy using the small world pieces to reenact scenes as their caregiver reads the stories of superheroes saving the day, this experience develops role playing skills and encourages parent and caregiver bonding.
The wooden figures are double sided, with 1 side displaying a superhero and the alternate being everyday people with “superhero” occupations such as doctors and fire services. Use the resources to spark meaningful conversations; “What makes a superhero brave?”, “What other qualities does a superhero and everyday superhero need?”, “What role does a paramedic have?”, “What would you like to be when you grow up?”. Interactions and conversations between the children and caregiver support critical thinking, emotional awareness and develop children’s confidence in conveying their own thoughts and ideas.
Extend learning by challenging children to use the rainbow blocks to build towers, ask children to count the blocks as they build. How many of the blocks can they balance?
